They are really the best, except for one thing, the price. The AG varieties are all more bitter than the two Park seed varieties, but they taste much better when using the Foliage Pro. Maybe it is the varieties or maybe it took some selective breeding to make them ideal for indoor hydroponics. The leaves are loose and take the shape of a complete flower in bloom. ![]() At the same time, the green leaf lettuce head is spread out. Also, romaine lettuce has a head that grows in a tight bunch. They do not grow long stems and try to reach for the lights, they grow bunches of leaves, just as you would expect from lettuce outdoors. Green leaf lettuce is a lighter green, almost lime, while romaine is dark green. The Aerogarden lettuce varieties are very very content under grow lights. It does not reach for the lights as much as Buttercrunch, it may end up being my first choice. The Romaine is slower growing than Buttercrunch. ![]() I may still choose Buttercrunch as my primary type. It is also the fastest growing but also the fastest to end its useful life because it tries to grow to the lights too much and the plant eventually flops over. The best taste for me (an iceberg fan) is the Buttercrunch.
